Everman, Texas – Authorities announced Thursday that human remains have been recovered from the backyard of a home once occupied by a missing 6-year-old boy. The discovery brings a grim new chapter to a case that has gripped the Fort Worth suburb since the child vanished in the fall of 2022.
Police and FBI agents had resumed excavation work at the Wisteria Lane property earlier in the week. The remains are now undergoing forensic examination by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s office to determine identity and cause of death.
Search Intensifies After Earlier Alerts
Investigators had searched the same property before. In April 2023, cadaver dogs alerted to possible remains beneath a newly built patio at the rental home. That effort yielded no confirmed evidence at the time, but it kept the location under scrutiny as the case progressed.
Everman City Manager Craig Spencer, who previously led the police investigation, noted that every search was conducted methodically with available resources. He declined to detail what prompted the latest focus on a specific section of the yard, citing the need to protect the integrity of the ongoing probe.
Mother’s Account and Flight Abroad
The boy’s mother, Cindy Rodriguez-Singh, told relatives she had sold her son to another woman at a Fiesta grocery store. Those accounts surfaced shortly after the child was reported missing and placed the family under increasing law-enforcement attention.
Two days before an Amber Alert was issued, Rodriguez-Singh boarded an international flight with her six other children and her husband, Arshdeep Singh. The family’s destination was India, with a layover in Turkey. She was later added to the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted Fugitives list and arrested in August 2025.
Charges and Competency Proceedings
Rodriguez-Singh faces a capital murder charge for the death of a person under 10 years old. A sealed psychiatric evaluation completed earlier this year found her incompetent to stand trial, leading a Tarrant County judge to order treatment at a state medical hospital.
District Attorney Phil Sorrells said prosecutors believe the newly recovered evidence strengthens their case. He added that medical staff expect the defendant to regain competency in the foreseeable future, allowing the trial to proceed.
Community Awaits Final Answers
Everman Police Chief Al Brooks acknowledged the emotional weight of the discovery for residents and for those who have followed the case for years. He emphasized that no official identification has been made and that investigators will not speculate ahead of the medical examiner’s report.
The remains mark the latest development in a search that began with theories of human trafficking and evolved into a focused homicide investigation. As forensic work continues, authorities remain committed to securing justice for the child whose disappearance has haunted the community since 2022.
